What is true self?

Why is everyone talking about finding our true self? Our purpose? To be honest I feel stressed at times, and even mad at myself for not being able to find my truest self yet. After a while battling with myself and things didn't get any better, I surrendered. And it wasn't enough, so I surrendered a bit more.

From surrendering, peace and clarity filled my heart and mind.

The answer I needed also came to me: trust your journey, relax your energy, they said.

I resisted a bit more, then surrendered a bit more. Then more answers came. This time light shines on why the question is so important. Why it matters above all else. Why it requires our full devotion. Why we are here, ultimately.

Because our feelings right now, the thoughts, the beliefs, the masks we have to wear, they will eventually fall away. Only the truth stays. Parker J. Palmer said about the true self “Ultimately it’s the only gift we have to give.” The essence of giving lies in the realness of oneself. It lies in the alignment of the soul and the inspired actions.

I have only found this much about the soul, so mysteriously beautiful, eternal and powerful. I will update when I learn more. Until then, I am learning to embrace every step of my journey, and I hope you can do the same too.
